A TRIP TO SEE ALBERTA

March finally came, and me & Jess met Anna at the airport.  We were travelling to Calgary from Manchester  which was about 8-9 hr flight.

The flight was OK, it dragged a bit, but after watching a couple of dvds and having the meal we finally arrived.

On arrival we had to go through Immigration, and because i had Jessica with me, i had to be seen by an officer. I was advised i should have brought a letter from Nick allowing me to take Jessica out of the UK and into Canada. I explained i didn't know this and he was the one we were going to see and could provide with a phone number if they wanted to call him.  The officer was really nice, just asked Jess a few questions about where she was going, who i was, when my birthday was, when hers was, and full names. He said he was happy with her answers as she was old enough to respond, but a younger child would struggle hence the letter. So be prepared all you ladies taking your children!!!! I fully understand where they are coming from, after all i could have been leaving Nick and taking his daughter with me, or even worse abducted her!!!

We finally got out of there and Nick & Ryan were waiting in arrivals for us. It was quite emotional, and Jess was so excited to see her daddy. The guys had booked a local hotel for the night, in which we ended up spending two, as it was really nice, so we used the next day to look around Calgary.

I have to admit i didn't like Calgary what i saw of  it.  I can't put my finger on what it was, but i expected the center to be busy & bustling with people and it wasn't. There was not much to it to be honest.

Over the next two weeks we visited Rimby in Albera, and stayed with Ryan's family. They were such lovely people, very welcoming. We went to West Edmonton Mall (which was amazing and huge), Medicine Hat, Drumheller. then we took a trip to Montana and spent a few days there, and spent the last few days in Lethbridge, Alberta.

I liked Lethbridge, its a nice place, busy enough but not too busy. We met a few people Nick knew from the hotel we stayed in, and had a look around at places to live and areas.
I was happy to live there, but i still had a niggle inside me about Nick not getting home enough to be with Jess and myself, so we had a chat about this. We were now mid March and this was only the third time Nick had got back to base at Lethbridge, and this was due to vacation request or he may not have been back yet.
This worried me, so whilst we were in the hotel chilling, we looked at other options, and spoke to one of our friends online who was currently in New Brunswick.  He told us about where he worked and the place, and that he was home every week, and the longest trip he was away 8-9 days and then home.
I could live with that as i was already used to Nick being away all week and home at weekends.  Our friend told us his company was recruiting and gave us the details. Nick called them, faxed over all his documents to them, and they came back with a job offer.
We talked about it some more, and decided that even though it was less money, he would go for this as we would have more of a family life, so he accepted and they arranged his LMO for mid April.
I can honestly say though, that the company Nick worked for in Lethbridge were always fine with him, and teated him good, and he was paid all he was due once he had left.  Our only issue with them was the home time, which they did say could have been sorted, but after him not getting back as often as i needed him to, we didn't want to take that risk.

It had now approached the time for us to go back home to Burnley. Nick drove us to Calgary airport and leaving him was real hard!!! Jessica was again heartbroken, i held back the tears for her sake, and assured her it was only a matter of a few more weeks then we would be back with daddy for good.

I was really sick on the plane and i don't know what i would have done if it had been just me and Jess. Anna was with us on the flight back and took care of Jess, our luggage when we got off and was a godsend!!!  The guy at Manchester on customs even took pity, as he was going to pull Anna in. He asked her who she was with, took a look at me, and said just go.

Nick's mum & dad picked us up from the airport and drove us back to Burnley
